LT ID integrated into MitSoft TSP

2025 September 15

One of the traditional legal requirements for qualified electronic signature creation devices is that the signatory creating the qualified electronic signature must be able to control the qualified signature device solely at his or her own will. This requirement is met by stationary and mobile signature devices.

With the relaxation of legal requirements for qualified electronic signature creation devices, remote (server) qualified electronic signature creation devices have emerged, which are managed by qualified trust service providers on behalf of the signatory.

Well-known qualified server-based electronic signature creation devices are Smart-ID (Estonia), Zeal ID (Sweden), SimplySign (Poland) and the latest LT ID (Lithuania). This list is not exhaustive.

Qualified server devices for creating electronic signatures are not physical, but virtual devices that are implemented by combining the signatory's authentication action via mobile phone and the signing action on a remote server.

The usability of qualified electronic signature devices is determined by the signatory's possession of physical or virtual qualified electronic signature devices. The Registers Centre has the potential to distribute qualified virtual electronic signature devices. Therefore, the core trust services within MitSoft TSP for qualified electronic signature and seal creation, as well as user authentication have been supplemented with the Registers Centre's signing and authentication tools LT ID, enabling persons possessing LT ID tools to use them not only within MitSoft TSP services, but also across Signa Platform, Signa Desktop, and Signa Web systems.
